Event description
How does the Australian social enterprise sector want to portray itself on the global stage?
What themes would we like the Social Enterprise World Forum, hosted in Brisbane in 2022 to explore?
What does our sector need from our policymakers, our ecosystem builders and our councils?
In the lead up to the 2022 Social Enterprise World Forum hosted in Brisbane late next year, we want to have conversations around these questions and more in the much anticipated Unconference, hosted by one of our founding members, Digital Storytellers.
The Social Enterprise Unconference 2021 is proudly supported by the Victoria Government, Social Enterprise World Forum and White Box Enterprises.
You can find out more and register for the Unconference here!
What is an Unconference?
In the Unconference format, no central figure writes the agenda. Instead, it's crowdsourced from the participants. What this means is that:
You have the ability to contribute in a tangible and intentional way
You have the opportunity to collaborate with those in the sector who are passionate about solving the same social or environmental issue
You can Chair a discussion on current developments, opportunities and/or challenges in your field and/or
You can lead a workshop, or attend one!
Essentially, an Unconference is something you design. There is no exclusive table of people sitting behind a dark curtain calling the shots. You do. What do you need? What will you find valuable?
How will the day run?
On the 21st of July, you’ll log onto the Unconference, which will begin at 11am AEDT/9am AWST time.
11am - 12:30pm - SEWF 2022 co-design session
12:30pm - 1:30pm - Break
1:30pm - 4:45pm - Unconference sessions
You will be able to jump in and out of sessions as per the agenda on the Unconference website, so don’t stress if you can’t make it for the whole day!
How will the agenda work?
As the agenda of an Unconference is crowdsourced, attendees who want to facilitate conversation around a particular issue will need to submit session topics ahead of time so we can ensure the tech experience is smooth. This might be something like:
How can employment-based social enterprises collaborate more effectively to improve the outcomes of people in need?
Navigating the social enterprise ecosystem: who are the players, how do I get involved, where is it heading?
How state-based social enterprise councils can better support social enterprises
Submissions are now OPEN, so if you feel the call, after you register for the Unconference, please submit yours via the Google Form here. You have two weeks!
On the 12th of July, submissions will close.
On the 19th of July, the final agenda will be released here (don’t worry, we’ll let you know when it’s up). On the day of the event, you’ll be able to access each of the session’s Zoom links through that link too.
What’s next?
We can only represent the voice of the sector if the sector shows up and contributes. This event is free to reduce barriers to entry and will be hosted online. If you have any questions, please forward them to: dom@whiteboxenterprises.com.au
