[postponed]A capital idea! Getting capital and capability to social enterprises

[postponed]

The COVID-19 pandemic had an immediate and profound effect on our sector. As one of the largest employers of people from disadvantaged backgrounds and with business models that address multiple areas of social exclusion for young people, women, people living with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+, CALD, Indigenous communities. The last couple of years has meant balancing the growing need for more services, operating in a fundamentally different way, but with less financial support.

Now as we emerge into “Covid-normal”, we all face the same questions exploring the changing nature of capital and its role in growing healthy sustainable businesses and communities. Which is why SECNA is hosting a collaborative workshop session with our partners and members to explore how we can get more capital and capability to social enterprises.

Topics to explore during the day:

  • Panel discussion: different models for accessing capital

    • Trade (social enterprise perspective)

    • Grants (government, philanthropic)

    • Social investment

    • Sustainability linked financing

    • Debt

    • VC

    • Blended

  • Breaking down barriers – what holding you back from accessing capital

  • New social partnership models – a portfolio model for growth

  • Capabilities required to access capital for growth

The panel discussion will be followed by break out sessions led by our partners to deep dive into certain themes.

If you’re interested in learning the lay of the land for developing your social enterprise, collaborating and building partnerships or keen to connect with others about the social impact funding landscape come and join us.
